Gold, shimmer, bronze and feathered flower arrangements- vintage weddings had never created so much of noise. A Great Gatsby style wedding with oozing glamour and gold is not something unattainable.
Start with a glam venue, preferably a jaded, age-old restaurant/bar which will create that charming aura around. Feathers and mirrors are very effective weapons to transform a regular lounge into an awesome vintage wedding venue. Rounded mirrors, ostrich feathers, etc are easily available and comes without much hard work.
Recreating the old world charm isn’t tough if things like the theme, the dresses and the accessories and indoors are planned that way.
The easiest way to create a vintage wedding success is through dresses. Fishtail dresses, gorgeous hats, and feathered flower arrangements can be some smart choices apart from dresses which are often sleek through the knees, where they flare out mermaid style. Complementing the bridal dress with similar kind of accessories like golden wedding veils or wedding tiaras can help you to pull the look together. Small boxy hats that sat on the back of the head and had short veils were popular wedding guest dresses in the 1940s. A deep V neck will make it even more glamorous. Rhinestones and vintage jewellery can be used to create centrepieces which would attract guests’ attention.
For men, accessories like a boutonnière of spray garden roses and dusty miller gives off a vintage feel. Geometric shapes and bright shiny gems were very popular in that period, even hexagons being made with emeralds, diamonds and banquettes.
Wedding shoes are another ruling factor in case of a vintage wedding. Men can wear snake skin shoes to stand out and make a bold statement. But, subduing the piece with a tolerant suit colour is very important. Bride can go for kitten heels or plain high stilettos with lace embellishments or rose gold hint in the shoe body to pump up the classic theme. Wedding shoes are after all, supposed to carry you over the aisle, to your beloved, but in style.
Collect vintage photo frames, glassware, books and flower vases to help you or the planner to assemble the look beautifully. You can also use DVDs from that era to be played in the wedding party and hand-out vintage cards to the guests as wedding favors.
If vintage is your thing, go ahead, full pompous way.
